Yet Another '72 with Black Paint
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271331026839...84.m1438.l2649
Don't have a dog in this fight, but the car interests me and, I've had just a small amount of contact with the seller.
He just recently posted up pics of the Trim Tag. No "SPEC", nothing, nada for the paint code. It's definitely an Early production car. Could that account for the Tag anomoly?
Thoughts? Thx.
Note- Mods please move as necessary. Since another Black '72 just passed through this forum recently, thought I'd start it here.

Just take a close look at the trim tag font, especially the build date and trim code. Compare it to a known original and you will have your answer, also no build sheet.

I've never seen a blank tag for paint. SPEC is the most common entry. I agree this is an early 72 and I agree it did not leave St. Louis with black paint. I also agree with the dealer when he/she says they can find no evidence the car was anything other than black. It was in primer when it was shipped.

FWIW: the eBay listing has closed and the pics of the trim tag no longer show up.

Yeah, thanks guys.
I thought the trim tag looked, uhhhh, let's just say "different". Oddly those trim tag pics were only posted a few hours before the auction ended.
Am always trying to learn a little more about these unusual cars, though. Thanks for the help.

I guess this one would last about 4 seconds on the ncrs judging field then.

This may/may not be a real tag and it may/may not belong to the car it's attached to. If it turns out to be a repro tag, then judging stops. If it turns out to be a from anther car, judging stops.
Otherwise, away we go.
