I'm from mid missouri where winters can be mild to deathly brutal and summers make you want to kill yourself b/c of humidity. Ive been in socal for almost 5.years and the winters here dont normally exist in orange county but yesterday when I went outside it was freezing car covered in frost. I didnt even think.about my 79 till I got off work b/c I keeo it on a really nice die hard brand battery maintainer that can trickle fast charge quick start or tender a battery. When I got home it was around the high 60s so I went to take her for a drive. My better tender read error on the screen I looked at the battery and buzz kill. It got so cold it froze then cracked!!! It was fine the day before when.i.moved it. If you guys haven't winterized your cars yet get on it before a battery or a freeze plug cracks.
A battery will freeze if it's dead. Charged it is fine. Surprised it froze at that mild of a temperature though.
Me too I dont know what to think.. I know its an older battery and I have had it die on me in the past that's why I keep it on the tender... the only idea I have is that on tender settitng it will not charge the battery just maintain and monitor it. So if something was pulling power than the tender was not gonna be able to hold it. As for the temperature it was low 30 but not soo bad that it should have mattered. Just frustrating I did turn on the wall furnace to 60* in the garage so no more freezing temps just frustrating
lots of cars sit in temps below freezing and dont crack the batt. I doubt long beach had temps to beat those in the mid west this week. you had/have other issues.
Aww. You poor baby. ... I don't have a garage furnace here in Misery and really don't need one. Blame it on climate change.
I know I know lol just put me in a bad mood
I spent twenty years in missery missourah mizzou how ever you want to say it when I get calls from family their in winter and in august I am always glad to be rid of mo lol
