Corvettes in Colorado
Are there any Corvette Clubs in Colorado worth joining? I sent out a few emails last summer to corvette clubs in Colorado and never heard back from any of them figured they were not C3 owners than must be C4 and C5 clubs.
SO is there any worth contacting again? I want to drive my Vette and Show it off next spring since it is cool car and get so many complements almost every time I drive it.
I am somewhat of a Redneck Owner who just loves old cars and looking to join a club make new friends than enjoy road trips
When I went looking for a local Corvette club to join, I had similar aspirations as yourself. Previously, any car club that I was in, was loose-fitting and would accomodate a diverse group of gearheads. Put another way, they didn't have many (if any) structured rules and you weren't limited by manufacturer or model.
Keep in mind that many CO Corvette clubs have National Council of Corvette Club (NCCC) association. There may always be a debate on the benefits offered by becoming a member of NCCC and mentioning that for your consideration.
Next is the club meeting proximity to you because some Corvette owners don't limit themselves geographically if they find a good crew to hang with. I know of folks living in Co Springs who are members of a club in Boulder county or vice-versa.
That said, these are some of the CO-area clubs that I am aware of who have members who own (or used to own) C3 cars: Denver Corvette Association, Down The Road Corvettes, Colorado Corvette Club, Colorado Springs Corvette Club, Top of the Rockies Corvette Association, Northern Colorado Corvettes, Southern Colorado Corvette Club, and Corvettes West of Greeley. This is an incomplete list but gives you some idea of who is available.
It's clear that many of these same clubs are populated with newer model cars but consider that some members don't twist wrenches like they used to but are quite aware of building or maintaining these classics. I won't say they're old (grin), only that they have history and knowledge of the hobby. Some still do but not always.
Like any group, you'll find a range of characters and I'd bet there's somebody who understands what you want to do and will help.
Good luck in your search.
I am still young enough to turn wrenches and love to tear down the classics which is why I purchased a 1977 C3. You got to love garage time and turning wrenches to own a C3
I also found a club in my local town this evening called The Vintage Car Club Of Castle Rock and looking into joining up with these guys also they are like minded like me. The Club consists of local car owners that love to restore and fix classic cars then they have 2 shows a year one in Castle Rock and the other in Castle Pines
