I bought a Danmar 4 post lift 5 years ago, and it has been one of my best buys. However, i have one bay with a 12 foot ceiling and a special garage door that hugs the ceiling. I've heard of some guys that did it with 8 foot ceilings and only raised the car a few feet. Could work underneath with a chair on casters. One problem with many sellers is that they will not deliver it to a residence. The thing weighs a ton and needs a loading dock to get off the truck. I paid for an installing company to deliver
I have a friend that works for FEDEX and he gets discounts. My plan is to have him ship it directly to his terminal and pick it up there.

I unloaded mine with a backhoe. The site that I had it delivered to is in kind of a residential area even though it is a construction maintenance yard. I went back and forth with them on the phone, they said that it was an residential delivery and I really had to convince them that it was not and you could get a 40 foot tractor trailor in and out no problem. If you had to unload it with out a forklift or other heavy duty lifting device, or if you did not have a heavy enough truck or trailer you could brake down the box and take the posts and other heavy stuff out and make a few trips. A few guys could probally unload it or load. A few bucks MAY get the truck driver to wait a little longer but you would have to be ready to go.
I bought their 4 post 8000# lift and I love it. I got it last September for $1800 and that included the ramps, jack tray and casters. Shipping brought it to $2000. I had it shipped to the local Yellow freight terminal and they loaded it on my car trailer. Total weight is about 1600#. The crate is about 18 ft long and wouldnt fit through my loading dock door without rearranging my dock. Plan on using a fork lift or a friend or two to set up the ramps, they are the heaviest components. It is built and packaged in China......dont let that scare you. Everything from the bolts to the nuts down to every eyebolt was accounted for in the packaging. The instructions were easy to follow and it was easy to set up. I love it and wish I had bought this 10 years ago. For $2000 it is the best $$ a hobbiest could spend on his car. I have been rebuilding my suspension, steering, exhaust and lower motor gaskets on my '79 this fall and winter and love it because Im not on my back looking up any more.
My first 2 post lift I brought home on a haul trailer. Cost me about 30 bucks to rent. I broke it down on the trailer and hauled it into the garage on wheel dollies and some sweat. My second 4 post lift came in at 2000 lbs and borrowed my friends car trailer. They dropped it on and I brought it home. Took it apart on the trailer and did the same with dollies and sweat. I did have another helper with this one as the ramps are heavy. Got it all in the garage and assembled it myself with a floor jack and more sweat. They are really easy to setup.

I know "Bestbuy" sells a few different brands, which one did you get?
A friend of mine has a "Backyard Buddy" lift and it is really a nice unit. Out of all the ones that I have looked at I would say that it is the best. BUT, it was about $4500.00, for 2K more than mine it's not that much nicer, but if money is no object...
Just bought a worth lift USA made 9000lb. capacity 3120.00 including freight
seemed to me that all the Chinese built lifts were around 1500 lbs shipping weight the worth is 2080 lbs hope this means a better built lift 500 lbs is a lot of steel also has 3 hp pump for hydralics
