Hello all! I hang on the C4 forum as I have an '88 coupe that I am getting back on the road this coming summer. I've wanted a C3 to slowly put back together and now I am working on the particulars but a friend of a friend is giving me a '74 or '75 coupe (it's been sitting so long he forgot what year). Missing the front clip and rear suspension but there otherwise. FREE is hard to pass up!
I am sure it's a basket case but I am excited to see what I can eventually do with it. I'll post a pic or two once I get the chance to snap a few.
glad to hear it, there was a guy in alabama last year trying to give away a 74 body, but idk if there was even one bolt someone could use from it, it was in very poor shape
Very true that it will cost $$ to get it together...no doubt! But I am happy to see if I can get this one saved.
Speaking with the owner it is brown with a red interior. It also has the luggage/t-top rack on it still. So, I think that makes it a '74 or a '76. It has the core support and such just missing the front bodywork and rearend/suspension. The interior is mostly there.
He is snapping pics of the car and the trim tag this weekend. I'll post 'em up once I get them.
One of the most expensive cars you can buy is a cheap corvette!
That said, good luck! Be sure to post lots of pics when you can. The forum members here can put you in the right direction. I'd check and see what nice 74-76's are going for. I imagine if you add the cost of the clip and paint you might be upside down.
Idk about that, im about 10K in mine and it only needs paint now, and that includes the TKO swap
Congrats on the FREE C 3! Post some pics in this same thread for us! You can do it!
My goal....$10,000 total...but I do all my own work and I'm buying "Quality" aftermarket parts....LOL.....because the poor car was a mix-n-match when I bought it......currently at $8,000(engine rebuilt/diff. rebuilt/radiator redone/interior redone/suspension redone.....add in a a A/T DIY rebuild for $400-$600....1 gallon of clear coat $200...incidentals $42,000.....oooops/decimal point mistake $420.00 unforeseen $720 (To theoretically bring the car back to OEM looks.....$35,000....no thanks!)
but it's so much fun doing it the hard way!

WOW guys.... sounds almost like a "wet blanket" party!
If he already has a Corvette, I`m sure he knows what he`s getting into. I think he may be somewhat like me..... if I wasn`t pouring money into this car, it would be some OTHER car!
I sold a 1931 Chevy, and bought a 1971 Vette project...... OP was lucky as he got to KEEP his C4, and now has a C3 to boot!
AND one with the freedom to build it as he wants too, at his own pace!
Sounds great to me!
So if anybody else out there has a free C3 to give away.... I`m open for it!
the only reason im that far ahead on mine is that i got a running driving original 77 vette with 73K miles on it for 4700$ i guess that guy dident know what he had, i bought it sight un seen, i was expecting a 4700$ vette, not a 6k$ vette, i got it just about where i want it now minus paint, and carpet, maybe door panels, the original ones are looking alittle ratty.
If you do take the car, here's a 75 parts car you may be interested in if you can get it cheap enough. It's a little more than an hour from you. Looking forward to the pics, good luck.
Congratulations on the acquisition, glad to see someone hopeful about trying to save another shark. If the car never see's the road again, please post parts here so that others may survive.
