Default Head unit

I want to mount my new head unit in an unusual place, I don't want to do anything to the original area or the stock radio. I know there are some who has done this please share, Head unit has a remote so except for loading single disk it will be mostly hands free. Maybe some 6x9 in the rear and smaller speakers just behind the head rest on the sides previous owner put some in already but need to be replaced they are 4`s .

I almost want to do something behind the pocket on the rightside.
Install head unit in that area and use the pocket as a cover.
