Default Correct Pulleys for 1977

Hey there,

I am looking for the correct crank and water pump pulley casting numbers for my late (mid-April) 1977 L-48 with power steering and A/C. If anyone would mind looking it up in the Corvette by the numbers book, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Joel

Joel,

You can use a site called Rockauto.com to look up these parts and they have remanufactured parts for your 1977 Corvette with the GM Part Numbers. They carry the parts you want with the correct part numbers. Other sponsored sites here also carry them and you can get reman parts from them also.

If you are trying to keep the car with all GM Parts Rock Auto has the best selection while I do suggest you search the sponsored sites also because many will carry many original GM parts. Rock Auto will carry them better then the other aftermarket sites.

I looked, but it didn't show the water pump pulley or balancer pulleys, only the AIR pump pulley. The AIR pump was not on the L-48.

Thanks,
Joel

Do you have air conditioning? The pulleys are different, for cars with and without AC.

According to my 1980 parts book, the water pump pulley for air conditioned cars, is/was part number 346299. It is a 2 groove 6 1/4" diameter pulley. The water pump pulley for non air cars is listed as 3991423, and it too is a 2 groove pulley, but it is only 5 13/16" diameter.

Like the water pump, the crank pulley used, depends on whether you have AC or not.

The crank pulley used with AC, is 2 groove, 7 3/4" diameter, and carries part number 469558. For non air cars, a 2 groove, 6 5/8" diameter pulley was used. It's part number is 3858533.

As I said, these numbers are from a 1980 Corvette Parts Book. I seem to remember that the crank pulley's part number, for air conditioned cars, has been changed. I don't have my GM Parts History Books at home, they're all in my office, so I can't check on the newer number right now.

All of the pulleys, were still available from Chevrolet, a few years ago. I haven't ordered any of them recently, but I think they should still be available. If you give these numbers to a dealer, they can tell you if they have been superseded by a different number.

If you have power steering, you may also need pulley number 346290. This is a single groove, 6 11/16" pulley, that bolts to the front of the crank pulley, and drives the power steering pump. I know that this pulley is still available, because I got one in about a month ago.

By the way, none of these pulleys are cast, or have "casting numbers". They are all stamped steel.
