I installed a custom autosound usa 1 but it was too long with the RCA jacks sticking out of back
I am thinking of getting a retro sound model 1 it is shorter any suggestions
I advise against getting the model one. In the 9 months since I've installed it, it:
a) killed my battery after a week
b) started rebooting and turning off when accelerating
c) had to be sent back for a replacement (you have to send the whole radio back, no possibility of them sending you a new one and then swapping it out at the same time, basically disabling your car for weeks).
d) got the replacement back, killed my battery again after a week
So yeah, not my favorite, lol. I'm looking to switch it out eventually.

My first one crapped out as well. Sent it back to the factory and had a new one within a week. That was over two years ago.
I installed one of those. Yeah, it's not the best for an audiophile who may not be limited by budget or features but it is a much better unit than the non-functioning cassette that was taking up space in my car. For the record, I am not well versed in acoustics after living amongst uncapped headers, industrial tools, and a few rock concerts.
I was not OSHA compliant back then, most days.
For the money, it's not a terrible unit and fit without any cutting of the bezel. I wanted the old school post look (vs DIN) with MP3 capability and have it now.
Keep your Autosounds radio and go to radio shack for a set of right angle rca adapters. Get the slimmest kind that dont have any plastic or rubber on them... it will look like a metal elbow macaroni.
I have this exact set up in my car. You'll have to pull the radio forward a little to install them, but after that will tuck back in place, and just leave your adapter cord connected.
