I purchased the 20 gallon parts washer from HF...heard that it takes 10 gallons minimum for it to pump well. I just left auto parts store and it will cost me $200 just for the CLEANER!
Any ideas CF members?
I bought the same thing a few years ago. HF also sells the cleaner solution. It is a gallon of seriously concentrated solution that you mix another 15 or so gallons of water with (or something like that). It is green (environmentally safe) cleaner and being mixed with water, you can only guess how well it works. Well, it did work to my surprise but in saying that, nothing works better than the good old solutions that take your skin off after prolonged use.
The problem I ran into here in Northern country is unless you have a heated garage, you are going to end up with a mega gallon popsicle.
Varsol, kerosene , PurplePower, etc. is MUCH cheaper and works well.....BUT....you must pour Varsol or kerosene back into a lidded container when not using the stuff because of fumes and flammability.
I always rinse my parts in a metal pan/1 gallon of acetone after running them thru the parts washer to remove any residue...and I store the acetone when finished!
BUT DON'T ALLOW ANY RUBBER SEALS/PLASTIC/ETC. TO GO INTO THE PARTS WASHER OR ACETONE RINSE!!!!!!

Gotcha Doorgunner! And thank you for your service! Been following your build...great job!
Get some of the long green chemical resistant gloves. If they do not enlarge after being in the solution then you are good to go. I remember going out at night smelling like gasoline and carb. cleaner. Not a good thing. mike...

Someday her feet will reach the pedals of yer Vette!!!!!
Most likely will be hers....If I do it right! She is my motivation to bring it all back. I will love it for a few years, then let her go with MUCH training.
Can you imagine! In 15 years driving a 50 year old c3 that will hopefully, look like a brand new car! I'm so stoked! Hope I'm alive to see it!!!!
