Rvzio trivia

I was never good with math so let me explain. I had a base model 65. I went to Bast Chevrolet and purchased a new 327/365 short block ($325.) I bought a fuelie unit to make it a 327/375. Soon after I purchased a complete 538 rear. So my question is running a 538 rear with a wide ratio Muncie 4 spd what would my 1st gearing be. I hardly ever used 1st gear on the street. Hey gas was .29 a gallon who cared. Some one once said maybe 6:40.

According to my math skills, a wide ratio Muncie with a 2.52:1 first gear and a 5.38:1 rear gear = 7.90:1.
You could have put tractor tires on the back and plowed fields with it.

Well know I really know why I hardly ever used 1st on the streets and even more so why I went thru a 4 gears with plenty to spare in the eight mile tracks. Thank you

To get overall gear ratio, you [B]multiply[B] your transmission ratio times final drive ratio, not add. 2.52 X 5.38 would be 13.56:1.
