I am changing the pedals on my '68 back for a manual transmission and the restored pedal assembly I purchased is different from the one I removed. The one I removed is the black one. Is there any difference in the boxes? My car has been bubba'd through the years but the box does have the mounting nuts and correct brake switch. Can the pedals be transferred or is it specifically for an auto?
Manual and auto boxes are the same. Clutch pedal acts as the pivot pin for the brake pedal in a manual car, there's a dedicated pivot pin in a automatic car.
I'd guess from looking at the two boxes that they're only different due to year of production. Looks like all the mounting hardware's in the same spot.
Black box is for manual brakes.
Silver box is for power brakes.

So....if the actuator rod that connects to the brake pedal arm and also fits into the master cylinder plunger does not fit correctly, it may have to be shortened or lengthened in order to have the right amount of travel.
No, the difference is how it bolts to the firewall. The location of the holes and the welded nuts. The actual boxes, before drilling, are the same.
I see now that the holes on the restored box are spaced farther vertically. So I guess my options are to find a power box for a '68 or rig something to work with the restored box.....or will a hydro boost work with the manual box?
