The L-82 was an optional small block engine available in the Corvette 73-80. There were no optional engines during 1981 or 1982.

No L82 in 1981, only L81. 190 HP.

The L-82 was the GM ordering code, for the optional 350 engine, for the years 1973-1980. For 1981, there was only one engine offered, and it's code was L-81.

The L-82 was a 350 with slightly different heads, cam, intake, carb, etc. It also usually had a different rear end ratio, but other than that, and the emblem on the hood, they were identical to base engine Corvettes.

The 81 L-81, used a mix of 350 base motor and L-82 parts.

You need to look at the engine code on the pad in front of the passenger side cylinder head. HY, CK, etc.

The L-81 will look like a L-82 (valve covers, aluminum intake) but it's more like a dressed up L-48 with an electric carb

If your engine is stock, it is an L-81. All 1981 Corvettes got the L-81 engines.

This is a L-81. If your engine is stock. it should look like this one.

The L-82 engine was last available during the 1980 model year. After 1980, there were no optional engines for the Corvette until the ZR1 in 1990.
