I have my frame and parts ready to go but was curious if I should have the bushings pressed off the A-Arms prior to dropping them off? Also, if I decide to have everything powder coated will it matter if I have these bushings pressed out?
Make sure your sand blaster knows what he is doing. I had a sand blaster blast a chromemoly race frame once and it looked like he blasted it with gravel at 1000 PSI. Made a lot of extra work for me and almost ruined the frame. You want parts clean but not super rough textured from blasting.
protect the threads of the welded nuts by inserting bolts.
If you have a competent powder painter, you don't have to do this. They have slightly conical shaped silicon plugs that they force into bolt holes to keep the powder paint out.
When you get to the Blasters... they will most likely ask you what kind of sandblasting that you want.
Such as Commercial for a light brushing to remove the rust and paint. Or Custom which should give you a clean blasted finish with no hint of rust or paint.
They may use other terms to describe their services...but the end results will be the same.
