Default broken vert deck lid mount

i started noticing my deck lid was a bit unstable and found the mount for the hinge on the left side had rusted through and broken. its a clean break straight across the mount. how dificult is it to get in there and repair it. I would imagine once you get to it it should be fairly strait forward to weld a plate to mount to. However it may be more complicated than I know.

anyone ave experience with this? search wasnt fruitful.

Do you mean the mount thats glassed in and up under the deck or the metal box that goes down to the floor or the box that covers the #4 body mount nut?

Not sure whats broken. Mine where "repaired" by someone long ago and I had to replace the mount on the floor.

I replaced mine as it was pretty bad off. Dealing with that spring is a real pain they make a tool that holds the spring (kinda like a box) so you can take it of and on. Becareful the threads on the bolts that hold the upper portion of the hinge to the deck are usually rusted in place... I left mine in place and just fixed the bottom as was needed. Not sure what happened to yours.. send a pic

Or the mount on the floor could have rotted away too

yeah ill get a pic this weekend. its the bottom end of the hinge mount.

it would be the front edge of the deck lid hinge nut plate that is the broken location.

hmmm. that doesnt look to bad at all. is it easy to replace?

Without a picture I am not sure ... but you maybe able to sister it up and weld a piece to it.

did the rivets let go to the floor... as this plate also holds the #4 bound mount in place via rivets.. .how does your number four mount to the frame look?

If you go the route of replacing the plate its a pain cause rivets hold it to the #4 mount outside in the wheel well and some rivets cannot be reached... I replace both my #4 mount and the inner nut plates and used stainless screws to hold it all in place... so if you can weld it ... maybe much easier depends on the shape of the metal as those things rot out due to water.
