Went out to clear my mind from work and decided to strip the top, I only had a 4" flat blade here in my tool box at work this is about 15 minutes of work.
Going to go with the vinyl, the car is going to be repainted by a body shop I have a relationship with just as soon as they have an opening for me.
I was hoping you were going to say vinyl. I love the way the colors and textures contrast. It just helps it stand out that much further next to boring cars of today like the sentra, prius, and civic.
I think the vinyl will look great against the white car. I am planing on doing it myself the top needs a little work first it looks like someone either dragged it across the floor or used a grinder on the back edge of the top.
95% of the top has been striped the rear window has been removed in one piece.
The question I have is with these scratches, I swear the PO dragged the top across his garage several times. and what I should do with the tips as well I am planning on getting the chrome caps but I am wondering how hard it would be to rebuild them out of fiberglass.
Jack - I'm no body man, but geezy peezy, it looks like you're going thru a helluva lotta extra work on a top that you're gonna cover in vinyl anyhow. Couldn't you just sand it down to the primer coat, fill in any scratches/gouges and then have the vinyl installed? Just curious. Anyway, I look forward to seeing the finished project, sounds killer!

Maybe, I started playing around with the razor and the paint came off easy. The scratches I am pretty sure I will just use filler the wing tips on the back I am not so sure about I think they need to be fiberglass because so much material is gone.
