Spoke with the owner tonight... It is indeed an L48... he got the 6-8 mixed up... Pete79L82 you got it!!! Going to check it out on Friday.... He says there is a fairly decent trans leak but he does not suspect a seal... the Speedo does not work as the cable is frozen, or meted, or something May need an "o" ring or something..?... The RPM guage is hit, miss....?? I am very OCD and ****... I have access to a lift... So, before I make an offer... should I request that he bring it to my buddies shop to give it a once over underneath? He is not opposed to it... Seems very open and forthright.. He is in his mid 50's... not some kid...! He purchased the car two years ago from a classic car dealership up in N. TX... He is selling to rebuild an older truck and to do some yard work for the wife... He says the paint polishes up nicely. Great oil pressure (40psi and ^) no smoke, idles nice... Looking forward to seeing, driving the car... Keep your fingers crossed for me.... any other advice is welcome and appreciated....
I'd have someone else who is unbiased check it out. I looked online at a '82 collector edition that was 3 hours away. Asked the Pres of the El Paso club to see it, he did and he called me back with a long list of MAJOR problems. The car was a 6 footer and looked great online. Glad I didn't waste my time driving all day back and forth. Ended up with a really nice '79 L82 from Waco still a long drive but the car is fantastic.
