Stcky headliner

Just purchased a 1970 and the headliner is real sticky. Car has been sitting for a few years. Is there a special product on the market that will recondition the headliner, it appears to be a hard plastic on the inside of the T-Tops.

I used swimming pool liner cleaner with good results on my interior parts when household cleaners I tried didn't work.

My 72 vinyl gets like that from time to time. I use a towel, warm water, and a little dish detergent. It cuts through that stickiness and leaves a clean surface.

My 70 T-Tops are doing the same thing. I've tried numerouse remedies with no luck. I think the plastic is just breaking down do to age.

I "had" the same problem.
Took them apart (easy!), washed them with soap and water REAL good several times, SEM vinyl prep, and SEM black.

Never came back

what you are feeling is the plasticizers that keep vinyl soft migrating out to the surface. as they migrate, the plastic gets harder and cracks. tar, wax, and grease remover will also work.
