After my trials and tribulations with oil pressure caused by a plugged oil pump screen, I took my better half for a cruise in the newly transplanted BBC. Most of the time it was a nice easy cruise. Most of the time-I had to get on it a little in first and second up to about 4500 a few times.
When we got home, as she was getting out of the car she reported "That wasn't too bad !". What are you going to do? You can't live with them, and you can't live without them.

WOW .... That was quite an endorsement. She will be driving it next. She might let you go with her.
My wife went for a few short trips in the 68, was like meh.. I ran it through first and second, her response .."it shifts rough". However one day last fall when the sun was warm we went of for a nice "rural road" cruise with the top down. (you know driving around in the country) Now she talks about all the places it would be fun to take the Vette!
My wife and I have driven our '71 convertible from Seattle to Napa a few times. The only time she complained was when it was when it got up to 105° driving through Corning, CA. I put the top up for some shade and that helped a bit (no A/C). She'll usually do the Seattle to Portland portion of the trip, about 180 miles.
Why does it matter.....do you care about her garden? Men and women like different things, and it is ridiculous to think that your wife is going to get all excited about a Corvette, or any car for that matter.....! In my case, I am lucky, she loves riding in it! THis is not a marriage counseling forum, but living with the reality of the differences is the first big step of understanding that some things just aren't necessary. Its like this obsession with children, its just one part of life, not everything.
First time I took my wife for a spin in the 'Shark,' she sez:
"I don't know about these seats; they seem WAY too low. All I see is the back of the hood and the fenders."
I told her to sit up a little straighter and notice where her head was. She did, then realized the top of her head was brushing the T-Top. So, I gently reminded her that it was a sports car, you ride really low, and the driving position of a 2004 X-Type Jag (her DD) isn't to be expected.
After the ride was over, she glanced at the 'Vette's longish beak, then said: "This IS a...man's car, isn't it?" That one took a few seconds to sink in.

Over the last 36 years, my wife has stayed out of my corvettes because they were too low, too loud, too rough riding, too small, too fast, attracted too much attention.
Although they are a bunch of fading memories, when I was single I never meet a female that didn't want a ride in a Corvette.

My wifey loves fast sporty cars, her DD is a 300 SRT8, the thing she doesn't like about my car now is the AC doesn't work so it gets hot in there. I'll get the AC going some day but for now I have bigger fish to fry with it... Oh, and she enjoys the ride better now that I put in the Fiero seats, she can actually see over the dash without her booster seat
Any hot rod I've had my wife refers to as "the piece of ****" Lol
There is nothing of hers in "MY" garage.
It's her kitchen,
It's my garage.
One of her aunts were over one day and the aunt says "why dont you have a separate fridge/freezer in the garage?"
I looked at her and said if ever there was to be a fridge in the garage it would be full of beer, Lol.
Seriously its true men and women are different. Dont sweat it.
We took my mom for a cruise in the Donzi Sweet 16 last year.......she was not pleased, hard to believe it is the same woman that once drove a 69 396/375hp Nova and later a 1970 Chevelle that was her daily driver for 10 years
women dont like corvettes cause there isnt enough room for tons of crap from a shopping spree!!!
took my ex for a ride in the 68 one time and a smokin hot woman on the back of a harley flashed her tatas at us and gave me a thumbs up to which my ex replied thats why you bought it huh?
i replied nope but it is a great perk!!!
My wife won't drive the '82 and "thinks" the Z06/Z16 is hers. I've got her right where I want her! (hope she doesn't read this...).
About twice a year we take both cars out for a spirited cruise - I'm in the '82 and she's in the Z. Sexy and fun!
Her best comment though came after our test drive of the Z16. She drove only a few miles, working through the gears quite well, and commented - "If I'd know this car was this much fun I'd have wanted one years ago"! Yup, she's a keeper!
Did I mention she bought me ammo for Valentine’s day? I’m truly blessed (just in case she does read this post)

I wouldnt worry about that comment unless it was in the bedroom.
My wife keeps asking me ( about my vette ), " is it done yet ?"
Seriously though, The corvette is for your enjoyment, I am sure. I know mine is.
My wife is amazed at the amount of attention we get when we take the car anywhere. She is a little disenchanted with the amount of money I have spent on the winter rebuild though. She thought this was going to be a buy it and drive it sort of thing...
You back in the early 70 my friend Charlie from Hicksville Long Island had the beautiful 63 fuelie conv. It was that tan color with tan interior
Never in the rain, snow etc. you get the picture. Well after about 8 yrs of caring for his vette Charlie yup got married. After a few months of true bliss Mrs Charlie took the vette to the store without Charlie knowing. It was the only car in the garage. Yeah well Charlie got a phone call informing him that his vette was hit at an intersection. T boned on the pass. Mrs Charlie not seriously hurt. Any moral here??
PS vette was totaled so was Charlie. Divorced 1yr later. Wonder if the above had anything to do with it. Becareful what you leave in the garage.
