Again its just a guess but 10% sounds pretty reasonable to me. something else to consider ,at least in my opinion , is the assumption that people who wanted A/C tended to lean towards automatics vs 4 speeds .with the number of a/c cars up by 72 the number of A/C cars with 4 speeds not up nearly as much.
that may be the wrong way to look at it but it makes sense to me.
Being that a 70-72 454 vert with ac is pretty rare find, was wondring what the production numbers for them were.I know GM did not keep these numbers, but this would make for a interesting survey for 70-72 454 verts with ac.
I'm not sure, but in 1970 there was a strike at St Louis. I looked up numbers for 1970 corvette and there wasn't many made that rear.
using statistical methodology and declaring that the more options you choose the more off your guess and using the corvette black book production numbers:
6648 convertibles
about 26% of all corvettes were 454s
about 38% of all corvettes were A/C
comes out to about 657 plus or minus an error factor. so, yes, about 10%.
we can write pages and pages regarding the error factor...
I had a 70 coupe with AC/AT. It also had a LS6 from a 70 Chevelle.
Engine code was CRR which was 70 LS6 454 SHP Turbo 400 car...
That car had to have been a riot to drive. Back in the late 70's, I had a cousin who had an original '70 LS-6 Chevelle, auto w/cowl induction.
One of the scariest cars I've ever been in or driven.
