Changing out my brake calipers and the new ones come with a bag with the new pin that holds the pads and two copper rings that look like the old compression rings that spark plugs used to have. Haven't seen these before and the old ones didn't use them. Where do they go if anywhere?
On the way back from another trip to the parts store for some more "while you are at it" stuff, I think I figured it our. The only place they could go is on the bolts that hold the calipers to the backing plate. There are currently lock washers there and I think I will just leave them.
As the guy said .... "I was wondering why the baseball was getting larger and larger and then it hit me".
If they are copper they might be the brake hose washers. Usually they come with new hoses, but I can see them coming with the calipers in some circumstances. The caliper bolts use heavier metal lock washers, not copper.
Guess I should have said 78. No place on the back calipers for the rings. All flare fittings. Just got to the front. The rubber hoses on the front have a flat mating surface where they hook to the caliper that takes a copper o ring. Caliper probably fits several years and maybe some have the rings on the rear. Thanks for all the replies..
