Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this forum and very happy to have found it. I only recently became the proud owner of a 1969 C3 Corvette Coupe. This is second time that i've owned a Corvette. About 20 years ago, when I was still single, I owned my first Corvette...it was a 1984 C4. I really enjoyed that car but sold it so that I could afford to buy an engagement ring for my then fiancee (and now wife)...best investment that I ever made!
So, twenty years later (about a month ago)...I happend to be looking through Craigslist for no reason in particular when I ran accross the 69 Vette. It looked great and had to show my wife and told her that someday I'd really love to get a car like that. To which she said, to my astonishment, "yeah, you should...you work so hard and really deserve it"! WOW! Didn't have to tell me twice...sent a note and saw the car in person...made an offer and brought the seller a cashiers check the very next day and brought her home. No question, so much nicer than the C4 I had originally.
Tell us more about it?! What engine?
Take it out cruising with us locals next month!!!
(Cruise link above! )
Thank you! It's an L46 350cu/350hp - matching numbers - it's pretty much stock/original...except that it was repainted two years ago (same color, of course). I appreciate the invite to go crusing next month...will definately check out the link and join you guys! Thanks, Fred!
I'm with ya on the wife side as well. I bought a 69 with the intent to restroe it from the beginning. One nice summer day while I was pouting in the garage I mentioned to my wife that it would sure be nice to have this Vette done so I could be out enjoying the weather. She said, "well, go get another one to drive while you work on this one." Like you, didn't have to even ask her to repeat herself. Bought my 71 the next week from a forum member.
After about a year from purchasing the 71 I ran into one of those "can't pass up deals" on another one (nice 78 for 2500.00 from a family member) to which she said, "lets get these two done first." Probably a good thing though.
Point is; they tend to grow on you to the point that while just looking at other cars, you will run into those others that you also cant pass on.
