Default electrical problem

I just installed my new tail lights into the new flex bumper in my 1975. The tail lights don't light at all. Turn signal stays lit on the column dosnt flash. Head lights work but no running tail lights. Think it may be a ground. Fuses test good.

I would revisit the wiring harness something is either pinched or not connected. These types are never fun to chase down but you need to inspect the wire harness again to see the fault.

Found a white wire coming from the door ajar switch. It was all melted and and a green yellow wire that is bolted to the inside frame that goes into the hole with the switch. I had to remove the harness from under door sill and replace the wire with a new one. The harness it attaches to goes into the dash harness I can see its melted also. Looking at taking drivers side dash out to get to it any suggestions?

I traced the white wire in the wire harness and its going into the fuse box. I have been trying to remove the fuse box. I removed the 2 screws on the corners and the center screw in the engine compartment. Its loose but will not come out. Am i missing something?

Not trying to be mean, but do you have a wiring diagram for your car? If not, get one. I'm unclear why a melted wire on the door switch would be related to your rear lights not working, or why you think that removing the fuse box is a good idea. You were on the right track with your first post, I would check to ensure the grounds in the rear are good.

The melted wire is a short. The lights not working sound like an open circuit. Which side of the "device" is open? That is your mission.

As MakoJoe implied, these problems are a PITA. I've got my own electrical problems I can't figure out, so I understand your frustration. Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable than I am can more help, or maybe you could provide additional information from the work you have done today. Or if you fixed it, maybe you could tell us what you found so that somebody else can learn from you effort.

I finally got the fuse box separated Yeah. It seems the tabs were holding it closed. Sunday morning it came right off. The white wire from the drivers side door ajar switch was burned going all the way into the fuse box. This wire travels along the same path as the turn signal wires and I figured it was shorting out the lights. After stripping it apart it and replacing the wire I didn't see any signs of it shorting to any other wires. The flasher unit i replaced and the dash flasher now flashes but still no lights.
I took the sockets out of the tail lights and the were only getting 6 volts. I found a ground in the back of the car that was disconnected. Added a ring and connected it. All lights now work. Yeah. Yes I have the wiring diagram and the Full build Book and was using them.
The white wire was shorted to the frame ground wire. The Green and white that i don't see on the wire diagram, it does into the hole with the two wires going into the door ajar switch. I was melted also. I will replace it when I replace the switch.
