Default Asking price/value question

I recently found a low mileage (less than 25,000 actual miles) '79 with the original engine and 3 speed automatic. I am going to replace the low HP original motor and 3 speed trans with a roller motor 350 and 700R4 setup.

I spoke with a gent yesterday who is buying a rolling chassis '79 and needs a drive train. He is interested in mine to include all the pulleys and brackets and alternator, PS, and A/C compressor (R134A), (the whole shoootin' match!). He is also interested in the slotted alloy wheels. All the above are original and in good working order.

I want to know the value/fair price for these. Thanks for your input!

Well, even with the low miles I can't imagine that the engine/tranny combo would be worth much more than $1500-$2000. Maybe a tad more with the extra parts. The wheels would be in the $300-$500 range, depending on how nice they are.

Why not let him have the low mi. Corvette & you take the roller. That way he gets a nice Corvette that you didn't screw up & you get to hotrod a junk one.

Maybe he doesnt like doing frame/paint/interior repairs and wants to start with a nice body and put the drivetrain in that GM should have installed to begin with

I spoke with him this evening and even joked about doing just that!! He is headed over here for a test ride. We may do just that, but I would feel much better doing the drive train pull/swap.

My roller motor is what a Corvette should have and the March serpentine kit has all new A/C, Alt, and PS components as well. Besides, my car's body and interior is in AWESOME shape, and I don't want to have to do the other stuff.
