My daughter asked for some help replacing her C3's tattered & frayed under-hood insulation before a show next week, so here we go...
She is missing about half the clips on the hood. I have the new pad and both halves of a new set of clips, but my question is what type of adhesive, epoxy, etc., should I use to affix the clip base to the hood?
Also, what about prep for the hood surface? The underhood has been painted to match the body color. I do not know if it is original, or by the previous owner when the exterior was resprayed. It is a flatter finish.
I just bought a replacement clip from a supplier the other day and asked this exact question. I was told to use a two part epoxy to secure the new pin, and my dremel to remove the old one and the adhesive.
I put new hood insulation on my '77 last year and I was lucky and didn't need new pins. I used a Black Stain Paint under the hood and from what I'm told thats the original way of doing it.
