What were the center caps made out of for the 1980-1982 wheels? My cheap Ebay replacements are plastic.I noticed that the 1978-1979 center caps are metal.Do they make metal ones for the 1980?Will the older metal ones work with the newer wheels?I am tired of getting cheap plastic center caps that keep getting lost.Who has metal ones?

For the factory aluminum wheels discussed here, black or chrome center caps, they are all plastic.

All factory 76-82 aluminum wheels, used plastic, snap on caps. The metal caps (with the set screw) were aftermarket pieces.

Here's a little trick, to lessen the likely hood of losing the plastic caps. Clean the lip of the wheel real well, using a good grease cutting cleaner, or something like thinner. Once clean, spread a thin bead of clear silicone on the wheel, and install the cap. The silicone will hold the cap in place, yet will allow you to easily remove it when necessary.
