Well...... The car is washed, waxed and detailed took me about 4 hrs. And is ready for my step son to have his first drive/date to "PROM" without me in the car. I hope this is a memory that one day he can look back and tell his kids and grand kids about.
Best of luck with that, as I can imagine having a hot date in a sweet Vette will be the talk of the prom. I am sure he will be appreciative of your kind gesture and will never forget it either! Hopefully he will be self controlling and can handle both a Vette and sweet gal.

So.... Those dates he had with you in the car, must have been pretty intersting - I hope HE was in the drivers seat!

I'm fairly certain that Dad actually let his (step)son get some driving time before he sends him in the car to the prom (and Dad installed a "Rev-Limiter" in a secret place under the dash)
Driving to the prom wouldnt be an issue for me. it's the car sitting unsupervised in the parking lot for 4+ hours that would worry me.
Yep, that's why I haven't offered to let my son drive the '69 to prom this year. Too many jealous A holes out there just waiting to key it while it sits in the parking lot.
I know my son would drive it responsibly and I'd love to let him, but I just can't risk what could happen as it sits.

fixed it for ya.....
Good Luck man, my kid's been hounding me to drive the 55 to school, it's gonna come down to it pretty soon
I let my brother take mine to prom last year. When he arrived I was waiting in the parking lot with his car and I drove my Vette home. He got to pick his date up in it, take pictures, and arrive in it. I did the same for my brother-in-law a few years back too.

Way to go for sure. Your kid's accomplishments should be rewarded, not denied because something MIGHT happen. It's just a car, trust your kids, and give them a memory they'll remember forever.

My parents didn't let me go to prom and I even had a date. That will be different with my kids, and their going to be in a corvette.
Everything will be 100% A-OK. A responsible young man will be respectful of the car and everything else. I went to my Prom in a 1969 Camaro SS, I worried about that car more than my date.
Memories such as Prom's, Grads and Wedding's last for ever. It is up to us as parents to complete that memory.
You are spot on - isn't that a part of living the dream by sharing it with the next generation?
But, one reluctant question, does Hagerty or the others insure a youth/event like that?

I have State Farm and already made the phone call to make sure that he was covered and "he is"
My stepson is one of the best kids I know besides my own two boys which are 14 yrs old and 11 yrs old. And they will also get to have this experience with the vette. I know that it will be in good hands.

Your a great Dad Arny and I agree that it should be a lasting memory for them and a great experience.
