Default interior assembly order?

As I continue my task of reassembling my '73, it appears to me that the center console should be installed before the center gauge stack in order to allow the inclusion of the vertical fasteners in the front of the console to be installed to the forward support bracket.

Any comments or ideas would be appreciated.

I had the gauge cluster in place but loose then slid the shifter console in place and tightened up the wing nuts and slid everything forward to where it is supposed to be.

Others may have a better way.

Hmmm... I like the idea of using wing nuts on those lower studs...

I guess, once tightened down, the gauge panel would kinda' clamp the shifter console in place.

and just as another data point for future users:

The compression ferrells on the oil pressure line from the block to back of the gauge (cluster)
are an unusual item. I believe it requires a 37 degree flare ferrell as opposed to the normal
automotive stuff used in most applications.

This item is available from some of the online vendors as a kit. I had to order one from Paragon Corvette this afternoon.
