On the 69 frame I have, the VIN was stamped on top of the frame rail about where the driver seat would be and again on top of the frame over the driver side rear wheel.
Texas70 is correct, the driver seat location cannot be seen with body on,
the drivers side rear can be seen, behind the rear wheel, but usually covered in crud.
the actual VIN tag, should be mounted on the drivers side windshield frame with 2 special rivets..
the VIN is not stamped anywhere else on the car besides the windshield post and the title. there is a VIN derivative , not the complete vin, stamped on the frame, on the engine and on the tranny. I suppose you can extrapolate the entire vin from the derivative, but don't count on the DMV doing that for you either.
in many cases the vin derivative is lost from the engine and tranny being non original and also the frame being rusty or have been replaced in the past. especially true for a race car, if it has ever been crashed, which it probably has.
Some other GM cars such as the Chevelle also had a partial VIN stamp on top of the heater box plenum., I'm not sure if any Corvettes also used this location.
