Default Build Date Question 1968 Roadster

Hello. Newbie here. I have a 1968 Roadster and I have a question regarding the build date. The data plate indicates the car was built in April of 1968 (D09). The casting number is the correct 3914678. The date code is J307. I was curious to see if this would make sense. It seems like 6 months between the build of the engine and the build date of the car is a bit long and was curious to see if any members would have any insight on that. Everything else is correct as far as the vin matching and the suffix but wasn't sure about the time between. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Mike, I believe your build date D09 would be Dec. 9 1967 not April 9, 1968, I think H would indicate a April 1968 build date, hope this helps. Tom

1968 production began in August so D09 would be November 09 1967.

An engine casting date of October 30 fits well.

I stand corrected, I thought September was the first month of production, with a Nov. production date according to the info in the "Black Book" Mike's 68 should have a vin number between 3411 and 5682

D09 is 11/9/67. Mine was built a couple days later, D14, so not far off from yours. My VIN is 04664, they built an average 114 per day in November, so your vin should be around 043xx.

I appreciate all of your help guys. My vin does fall into that sequence so it appears to be correct. There seems to be so many different answers online out there and I am glad to have the knowledgeable people here to help out. Thanks again.
