Default instrument cluster bulbs - one socket missing

hello all,
have searched but nothing found as yet, so here goes:

am replacing the radio on my 79 c3 and repairing the heater/defrost control valve too. while i'm in there i figured i'd replace the instrument panel bulbs. my GM service manual specifies 192's for the instrument center cluster and 194's for the instrument panel.

am wondering what the bulb should be for the center twist socket, located at the very top of the cluster and between the vents. not listed in my owners manual, and it's blown. thx!

I saved that info in a safe place, so safe I can't remember where it is. That bulb is special, has a magnifying effect.

Default yes

got it! your comment about a magnifying feature of the bulb led me to search on a vendors's site and found one. it's called a "gauge center/console illumination bulb".

many thx!

When I rebuild an instrument lighting system, I try to replace some of the light bulbs with LEDs' In the factory system, the instrument incandescent bulbs will cause current flows through the upper left hand light switch that will ultimately burn it out. In other words, the wiper rheostat on the light switch will be destroyed. To lessen the current flow, I replace the light bulbs in the instrument console panel and shifter panel with LEDs. I keep incandescence in the tach and speedo housings so they can be dimmed. This greatly reduces current flow through the headlight upper left hand corner switch.

For my 68, I choose blue LED's for the center instrument console and the the shift center console. My 68 has a blue interior.

For my 70, I'll pick red, since the interior is red.

And if you don't have a low fuel warning module in the cluster don't put a bulb in that position. It's a common mistake and the lamp will stay on none stop.
