brake noise
Had time today to lift the front wheels off the ground and the wheels (still bolted to on) do not spin freely.
Would it be the bad pads or, rotors that lonestar sold me? (The rotors are China specials - sure wish I was told when I bought them...)
If you are hearing vibration style noises from the brakes then something is hanging up and you also stated the rotors do not spin free when you spin them. This can be also caused by the nut that holds the rotor on being too tight. When tightening down the rotors what I like to do on a new set of bearings on the front is crank them down once than back them off between 1/16 to a 1/8 turn until they spin free before reinstalling the brake calipers. Then feel for any slop in the bearings. If there is slop then tighten them a little more. Always make sure your bearings are new and well greased. I like the Red Grease over the Black Grease these days. The reason I like the red is it does not dry out over the years like the black grease does and it also tends to not break down at a higher temp.
If you have brake noise it is a number of things the pistons on those older brake calipers are worn and sticking then not retracting after you release the brakes. Did you install new brake calipers or attempt to rebuild the old ones? If not you may need a set of remanufactured calipers because the old ones are worn out and sticking. If it is a pin sticking I like to use the Copper Anti Seize compound it is high heat and will not dry out like the silver color does. For normal bolts with out heat I use silver anti seize compound but in high heat areas of the car and bolts always use the Copper Anti Seize compound.
While this is a video for a late model corvette same thing applys to older model corvettes. Could just be a pin sticking.
