Ok please share Ur opinion, Its been almost two years driving and fixing , upgrading and more fixing my 72 vette . I was a fan but now I have a big appreciation and respect for the people who made this car 40 years ago . I'm almost done making it a driver and finally ready for paint . The original color of my vette is bryal blue and the person who had before had it painted red but very bad job the whole paint is cracking , bubbly and different shades of red . So my question is that I'm thorn of painting it a different color then the original paint , I would like to have it done in a dark metallic grey but I feel like I'm betraying the corvette brand and all the people who just are obsessed with keeping this car original . My vette is not a show car but a daily driver with a lot of class . So depending of Ur reply I can make a decision on which way to go as far of painting my stingray . Thank u in advance !!
Thx for Ur replies , it has the original engine but as time goes on it's becoming less and less original . I have someone that I'm in talks to do my paint job and he has worked with classic cars but I can't vouch for him yet but soon since I want to paint it next week .
If it is not a numbers matching car, paint it what ever color you want. If it is a numbers matching car and a driver paint it what ever color you want. Enjoy YOUR car.
I would like to have it done in a dark metallic grey but I feel like I'm betraying ..... all the people who just are obsessed with keeping this car original .
Are those people PAYING for the re-paint?
They`re not?
Then it looks like YOU get to choose the color!
If you are planning on keeping the car for yourself, paint it your favorite color.
If you are planning on selling it in the future, paint it the original color.
As a counterpoint : I have a '72 Bryar Blue 'vette. It is a very rare - one year only - color. The car was painted Black when I got it, and I wrestled with the same decision you are. I researched the color and decided to go back to original. For me, it was a great decision.
Paint it what ever color you like. It is your car. Your decision. And do not worry about what others think. Just ask yourself if you can put up with driving the car painted in its original color? BTW Bryar Blue is not a bad color.
I'd say paint it dark metallic grey. Why not your paying for the paint job. Paint it a color you like. Plus its a nice color. its not like your saying pink.

That's me, but it's not my car and I am not obsessed with what you may want to do with your car. Paint it the color you want. It belongs to you, not us.
