Thanks to the help of my 15 year old son, 23 year old step son, 10 year old daughter and wife, we got the engine pulled this morning. It came out without a hitch. We put the back on jackstands and pulled the right front tire for access for the picker. We managed to get the plug in the tailshaft after losing only two drops of oil. Now on to building the new engine!
I'll bet not many engines get pulled in your neighborhood.
What are you building for it?
Yeah, it's not a real common occurrence. I do most of my work at a warehouse shop where I keep my other cars. I just couldn't let my '71 out from under my roof. It only spent two hours in the driveway, so hopefully it didn't get any negative attention.
I have a 4 bolt main 350 that I just had machined. It has a GM forged steel crank, AFR 195 heads, Crane roller cam, forged pistons, 10.2:1 compression ratio. It should be a nice little runner.
Last weekend the 15 year old and I used an HVLP gun to spray some Eastwood Chevy Orange on some of the parts.
