notch in drivers door
I have a 1968 327-300 Corvette convertible. The drivers door along the edge at the front fender has a notch cut in the door. About 3/16high and about 3/16 deep. It appears to have been cut from opening the drivers door as wide as it can open. Looks like the edge of the door is hitting the door hinge. Is this something I can fix with new bushings and/or????. Should I just pick up a new hinge?

I have the same problem on my 69. Personally, since the door has to come off to perform the repair, I'm going to replace that hinge. Do a search on the forum and you'll find more info. I found a really good article by Willcox about it.

If the stock hinge has been replaced with a newer model, it will take a chunk out of your door when you open it all the way. I had to grind my hinge, so that it would not do that. Lou.
