Bloomington Gold

At bloomington, you can lose a max of 411 points out of 7000 or so points for gold and I lost 460. I lost around 200 points for the undercoating. It would have been a massive job to remove the undercoating. My car is really for the most part unrestored, I figured that I would have to repaint many things on the chassis to get them looking good again if I removed the UC,so it was either leave it alone or remove it and restore, so I chose to leave it alone. Also, the car is originally from DC and is solid because of this dealer applied product.
I didnt get too much info on the ZL1. I guess it was judged at bloomington last year and didnt get gold because of some issues, but couldnt get any info on the car. Regardless, it was pure badass. Maybe someone else can chime in on that car. There were a few articles written about it last year. I guess its really hard when everyone believes that there are 2 ZL1 cars...now all of a sudden a third car that appears correct has surfaced.

The more I think about your results at Bloomington, the more I'm in disbelief myself? I really would have guessed that you would have achieved Gold. I tried to say something tongue and cheek on the TD but must have gone misunderstood. I'm going to send you a PM with my guess as to "why".

Granted, like most other events, its tough to keep the product fresh with venues that keep attracting enthusiasts. But BG manages to do it and if you are attending and miss those opportunities, than you have wasted some good bucks but there are always gems to be found.
On a personal level, I walked from the hotel to the judging field and fell in line with a fellow carrying a notebook...I figured naturally he was an owner with a car. We struck up a conversation...and sure enough, he was there with his one-owner 1972 convertible...original, survivor car. We hit it off...I got invited to join his family for PM beverages and we touched base each day as he fretted over the judging of his 72. As a judge (late model C3 class), I offered tips and we enjoyed the sharing of information. This type of experience I encounter nearly every year...its the nature of the hobby and it happens at BG...big/small but intimate!
I grew up as a drag racer and never really interested in road racing but the #12 L88 Corvette really caught my interest. I got some nice photos and talked to DeLorenzo several times to get his story.
So those were my experiences of the 2014 BG. I'll be there for 2015!

The dash on that 64 looks brand new. Someone did a great job of preserving her.

the interesting part of the story is that the 1968 car was built from parts they (the O-C team) took off the GM line which means it may have raced with an L-88 but it`s not an original L-88 car.
