Well I took the last few day and looked at some more C3's in the area and none of them seemed to be in as nice of shape as this one, and most were asking for more money. So this morning I went back to the dealer and took the car to both a body shop, and a friends garage to put it on a lift. My friend is a career mechanic so I trust his opinion when it comes to automobiles. We put the car up on the rack and everything looked really good for a 40 year old car. There was no rot anywhere just some minor surface rust. He pointed out that the air conditioning has been recently redone as the pump and all lines are brand new. He Also said it looks like the water pump was also recently changed. The frame was straight and there were no signs of twisting or repair work. He believes that the car was originally a southern car or it spent every Ohio winter stored away and never seen snow. So I took my list of minor things that were wrong with the car and my estimate to fix the paint and made an offer. Their asking price was $8995 so I made them an offer of $7500. After a few back and fourth sessions we agreed on $8000.. Im extremely excited and I can't wait to start wrenching on it. I already made the appointment and its going to the shop for some paint work on Wed. Once I get it back I will take some more pics..
Man I feel like a kid at christmas
Thank you guys for your help and input. It is greatly appreciated.
Good Luck and welcome to the club. Now go start your list and where you are going to spend your money first!

Congratulations! It's been fun to share your brief journey on this one - looks like you've gotten yourself into something that should provide lots of reward. Having the L82 is really nice, and car really looks surprisingly good for what you've paid.
Keep us informed on your journeys with your new toy.
Congratulations! 74 is my favorite year of the soft bumper cars. They have many things that make them unique: last C3 with true dual exhaust, split rear bumper, last year with the non km speedometer, last year for big blocks etc. Enjoy your car, it looks like you got a great deal.
I was trying to find a site that listed how many 74's were built with the L82. Does any one know where i could find this information?
I'm not sure on the rules for posting links, but, a quick Google search for '74 Corvette Production Data' hits on a few good sites. 6,690 got the L82 in 74!

And not sure about other states, but with all of California's stringent emission standards, it's the last year you can putter til the cows come home with headers and hp!
