Default Handling

My 71 coupe just does not handle like I feel it should. All front end parts seem to be in good condition, but I have to sort of over-steer into cornering & it seems sloppy. I just rotated the tires hoping it was something as simple as that, but no luck. I am afraid to make any quick/responsive moves if that makes any sense. Any suggestions as to what to check would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to post what your car is equipped with and/or any mods that have been made to the car. Have you done something to the car recently, i.e. any work or servicing? The more info the better for those that are able to help you out with a possible diagnosis.

Check the condition of the rear suspension parts. If they look good get the alignment checked. Vettes need a 4-wheel alignment and some shops don't know how to deal with the shims in the trailing arm pocket and the torque arms.

Vettes feel different than other cars anyway. You are sitting right in front of the rear axles instead of midway between the axles like most daily drivers. Lots of fun to drive but you feel the cornering forces more sitting in the trunk.

Have not owned the car long. Has a rebuilt 350/350 turbo & power steering. Has 245/60/15 radials on 15x8 aluminum rims. Everything else looks to be stock.
