76 dash install help
Installing new dash ( top pad, drivers & passenger pads), what is the proper order of install? How do you wire in the speedo and tach lights? Does the steering column need to come out? This is kicking my ***. Thanks

Sorry can't help much but I've read in other threads that it makes it much easier if you do take the column out. I'll be watching this as I will have to tackle mine some day, hopefully next spring

There may not be a "proper" order. I have always found it easier to work from left to right; driver's side, center, passenger's side.
Plug them back into the rear of the instruments. Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The AIM has a page showing where everything plugs in and (usually) listing the correct wire colors.

Well got the drivers dash in. Had to remove the 4bolts and drop the column down. Then plugged in all of the bulbs. Started now on the center console. We'll see how it goes

Ive taken my dash out a few times this month. Drop the steering column!!!
I usually install the driverside and hook up everything before I screw it in.
Passenger side is next.
Since my forward shift console doesnt have a support and is broke I install the center bezel and wiper controls next. The dash panels help to hold the bezel in place.
Final step for me is the dash pad. I put in the passenger side then put my hand in the middle and use leverage to flex the pad enough to squeeze in the driver side.
I dont hook up the front speakers since I cant head the radio anyway (sidepipes).
