I am looking to buy a 69 corvette off the internet and I noticed the car has dealer plates on it. I asked about that and the gentleman told me the car is titled in the dealers name. Does that mean the title reads
"Corvettes are cool" with an address? or will it still be in a persons name? ... If the title is in the dealers name and not the persons name, will any other papers be included or can anyone just sign there name and hand it to me? I have requested a copy, but they haven't complied yet. I just want to make sure everything is legit.
One of my Corvettes was titled in the dealer's name in another state.
No big deal.
He titled it to save any buyer any hassle since the Vette came from a no title state(Connecticut)
It did affect sales tax I had to payin Illinois.

Illinois is a good example why you need to find out the rules of your state on this. A car titled in a dealer's name can cost far more in sales tax than one in an individual's name... even if its the dealer. If its an individual, the calculation is different than if its a retail sale.
In and out of state can affect this calculation as well.
