just got this 75 out of my dads barn and had it up on hoist check play on rear wheels they have a small amount is this ok drove it and no noise but has a small amount
Age finally got the best of my 74 last summer as well . To get the correct alignment and factory tight handling.....I had to rebuild the rear trailing arms and replaced the original front bearings too and bushings too,Springs get lazy and the diff. may be in need of an overhaul . I did both of these when I bought my car.
These old cars drive pretty good when the suspension is up date.
These cars are not like buying a '90s or newer car that you can hop in and drive the first day. They have decades of old grease/oil/fluid/moisture in their systems.
It's better to take the worst trailing arm off the car and check the play with a dial indicator (good and cheap at Harbor Freight---a must-have item that you will use often).....and also check the grease to see if it is fresh or not.
The bearing grease gets old/turns to a waxy paste/does NOTHJING to protect the bearing---NO SENSE IN RUINING $100 WORTH OF BEARINGS in one wheel assembly alone!
