We all know that then foot wells get pretty hot in the c3s but today I have absolute proof! Went to pomona swap meet today(quite a few nice vettes this time) and on the way home my right foot felt funny. Didn't think much of it till I got home. Got out of the car and damn near tripped over my self due to this. Right shoe got so hot that the glue holding the sole of my shoe on gave up and the bottom fell off! Granted, the shoe probably wasn't in the greatest of shape to begin with but this is irrefutable proof that it get hot down there, check it out.
I swear that black 79 L82 would get so hot on the floor board.....my Cons
Sneakers felt gooey after my 250 mile ride home on a 90 + degree day ..to my parents home ....that car had all the smog tuning going on.....metal floor ...I was young though and indestructible
Like riding in a freakin pressure cooker .
I knew after that car , a convertible was in my future .

I read the "cabin heat" thread and followed the suggestions....using an infrared gun, now my floorboard is only 3 degrees warmer than the 96*F ambient air temperature-------even with the kick-panel vents closed.
Hey, I too was at the Pomona corvette show and swap meet today. Lots of great looking cars, specially vettes, this time. Back to your comment, I installed Dynamat and a heat shield under the carpet padding. Ran both all the way to the dash. I also installed a transmission foam collar. No more troublesome heat for me.
