Default 73 basket case frame off resto

Im about ready to lift off the body of my 73. I have the body dolly built and all 8 body mount bolts off (or broke off) I am going down the check list making sure everything is disconnected. One thing Im having trouble with as I start is putting a little pressure on the body with a jack to see if I can lift the body a tiny bit like a half inch or so to make sure it is disconnected. For example the back mount on the driver side of the car when I push up on it with a bottle jack I hear a little cracking sound so I stop. Is this normal? Im a Vette virgin so I'll need tons of help
p.s. pix coming soon

I'm a rookie to Vettes also. I would use a long thin-tipped prybar to separate the body mounts from the frame---the mounts could be seized/rusted in place.........EASY-DOES-IT!

Place wooden spacers between the frame and body as it separates to keep everything level.

Don't forget the seat belt cable, I did when I was taking my 73 body off the first time. I had one bolt I had to cut off (left rear) the rest came off with out any problems but I saturated them with wd-40 for a week before trying to remove them.

good luck...

I would not try to lift the body with a bottle jack, use a sling.

Is the radiator/condenser removed? If not are the AC lines removed that go through the body on the passenger side of the rad? Lots of little things you need to make sure has been removed..

My opinion would be, why don't you just use straps to the correct place. You do not need to purchase ones made for a corvette just need a flat style hook. They sell them all over. I modified mine I got from ecklers as they are way too long so I put ratchets on them.

I don't see a outline of a wing window so must be a 68, but its hard to tell...

My first car was a 67 and loved it..
