Decided to go with the latch style pins. Thought I'd share how I went about installing them. The drivers side it was easy enough to put it up through where the stock latch spring would go. Unscrewed the spring retainer and the pin screwed right in.
But if I did that on both sides of course the pins would be in very different places. But with a little creativity I was able to use the stock spring bracket on the passenger side as well.
With a little measuring I was able to drill through the hood in the right spot to put the pin through. Latched it and scribed the cut line
Cut it out with the dremel
And done. Really like the look and a lot simpler than getting the cables and all to work.
Nice...I've thought about this for awhile especially after I installed hood crooked and went through the pain of figuring out how to unlatch it. are they easy to latch and unlatch. What was the trick to make them both even. Did you add and extra piece or move bracket around?
If you look at the pic of the passenger side bracket the pin is not installed in the spring perch. that arm on the oem hood bracket brings the pins to less than a half inch of each other.Had to drill that hole out, pins screw right into the spring perch. I considered welding a piece on to bring them more parallel, but thought it wouldnt be noticable.
