Ok guys, I haven't been on here for years. I'm reaching out now hoping that there is some people with knowledge of either the inside of the door, specifically the factory alarm or door lock cylinder switch, or the general use of late model parts in a 79. I have a part that fell to pieces inside my door, and can not find the replacement part. I have found a used part but it claims its for 1980-82 which leads me to believe that my car has parts chopped up from an 80or its so close together that the factory used late model parts? I have yet to check the vin as it was never a concern until now and I'm away from the car trying to order these parts, but my car did not have the 2 compartment doors, so im not sure if its a late model? As always any help is greatly appreciated!
Does the door not work anymore (windows, locks, etc)? You may want to open it up and take some pictures.
Depends on your interpretation, I stripped the door out so as of now there is nothing there, it had a window reg, and such resored by p/o so I assume they worked. But I have all new door harnesses and just finished restoring the power door locks, window tracks, and latches. which only leaves the door cylinder/ alarm switch.
I'm working at the fire station for the next day so it would be a while before I could takes pics. but frankly it would help me if someone had pics of a completed one how its supposed to look, because mine had the alarm removed so I don't know whats correct.
May have found my answer... apparently Ecklers has the GM replacement part for all 78-82, unfortunately I will NOT buy from Ecklers ever again due to there terrible customer service. So I purchased the used part from ebay. Its unclear why this product is so hard to find and not listed anywhere in the google search of factory alarm components.
