Had a bad day, on the way home I was involved in a hit and run accident. My 68 vert didn't take the brunt of the hit but the right rear quarter is pretty smashed up(fiberglass cracked/broken in multiple places from the rear up to the middle of the rear fender well). This is a BB no-hit survivor car and I want it repaired to the highest standard(undetectable if at all possible). Anyone have any recommendations for a collision repair shop that specializes in corvettes in southern California? Just a quick look on google brought up McJacks, anyone have any experience with them?
Sorry to hear about this, it looks like it is just fiberglass damage. Insurance covering it? I would have chased whoever the heck did it to Timbuktu and back. Looking forward to see the car repaired. I know how you feel, I am still reassembling my '72 after being in a wreck last year. Best of luck!
Man sorry to hear that! I hate hit and run drivers, they were probably drunk or didn't have license and or insurance. Happened to a buddy of mine here a couple weeks ago, he bought a 2014 Ram, had it a not quite a week when someone hit is rear quarter (kinda like yours), dented it in really good of course he has no idea who did it... Hope you find a good shop to fix yours

And what if the guy carries? Legally or illegally, the guy already proved to be a p.o.s. Maybe to get a license plate number, but it would end right there for me. Anymore the cops don't care in a non injury accident. In fact they quit responding to non injury auto accidents in Las Vegas. It was taking up too much of there resources so now its up to those involved to trade insurance information.
That truly sucks Big-Time! Sunstroked is right, Here by us in PA the police won't come out unless there is any injuries and it is up to the drivers involved to exchange info.
The damage to your car will require major surgery but, If fixed properly will be as good as new. Finding the right shop is the hard part. Good luck on getting your ride squared away.
If your in the LA area you might want to check out J and D corvette in bellflower. I usally get parts from them but I have gone in to their mechanic and body shop and they do very good work. I haven't had any body work done but they did let me take a look at there cars as I was looking to get it painted. Wouldn't hurt to look and see there work if your near
J&D Corvette in Bellflower, Ca. I've known the owner, Noel Parks for about 40 years..an acquaintance, but we know each other. I've had a lot of work done by them in the past and they were very reasonable and did really good quality work. They are now in the process of repainting my 68 Convertible. Almost all of the expense is redoing the fiberglass. The car had some previous repair that they are correcting, also aging cracks to the fiberglass...what's an expense is correcting body panel factory flaws. The doors, rear quarter panels, convertible lid didn't match up on the factory installation....they are correcting this to make every thing match perfectly. They are using techniques of removing body and door panels, rebonding them and also using fiberglass buildup...no bondo/ Also the hood, it in places was perhaps about 1/4 inch not matching with the body....they've corrected that. They unbonded the front inner wheel wells and the front clip to make the hood and body match. Building up body panels here and there to match and blend is all being done in fiberglass which is then hand ground down. Some other minor parking lot cracks have been ground out, replaced with fiberglass fibers/resin and ground down to original shapes. I'm really impressed. Still need some more work for painting. Painting the car is about 1/4 the cost of the fiberglass work. It's an aging thing... a 46 year old car has fiberglass aging cracks even if it it's had no accidents.
The body shop manager is Noe Garcia. Pronounced Noi. J&D makes repro panels and can use one to restore you collision. If you want they can take a panel off of a salvage car. The repro panels have the rough interior surface, even the the exterior looks original. The salvage pieces have the smooth interior appearance a la stock.
Good luck. Having an accident in my 68 is my worst nightmare.
