Default mice problems

Hi! I recently got my first car, a c3 project car, and my dad and I have been working on it for about a month. We got the car running a few times, but it would not start for the past few days. We decided that it was a electrical problem, so my dad checked and cleaned the grounds, but it still would not start. He finally decided to take the starter off to check to see if that was the problem.

He got under there, took the starter off, and tried to figure out what was wrong. Then he noticed the mouse nest in the flywheel. Mice had gotten in there somehow and made a nest all around the flywheel! He got it all cleaned out, had about half go on his face in the process, and reattached the starter. VROOOOMMMMMM!!! it started right up!

Those little suckers seem to love cars that have been sitting still for any period of time... Glad you found the problem and got her started!

A mouse just ate through ones of the computer lines on my mom's civic. The car wouldn't shift out of first. Once me brother and I pulled the air box off we found the cozy nest they made that covered half of the lower portion of the engine bay. I hate mice but my cat loves them

When I brought my '68 home it had mouse poop inside/under the center console.
Them micro bears ate all the sheathing off my E-brake warning light wire. I had to shrink rap it.
Also, I had a flying nat infestation in the p/s front fender louvers.
Car was in the garage and I'm wondering where the heck are all these bugs coming from
I finally filled the front louvers up with raid and killed them all.
I guess it could have been hornets
I've been told the mice like the smell of the resin in the plastic coating.
So we gotta nibble everything that smells good when your a mouse I guess?

To avoid mice problems in the future you can use Bounce dryer sheets and/or moth ***** in the car - they will avoid the car as they don't like the smell. Trust me, I learned the hard way on a C4 when the mice chewed into the wiring harness. I use Bounce in the cars now and haven't had any issues since.

Out at our log home that we keep our boat, pop-up and other car we place dryer sheets all over them inside and underneath. We are 3/4 miles from our nearest neighbors (deep in the woods) and never a mouse.

Chipmunks. They learned to lift the outside air flap. Wire mesh outside now stops them. This was a real fire hazard!

I prefer raccoons over mice! They use the restroom OUTSIDE the car and they don't chew the wiring-they leave it rolled up.......

They gather all the old carpet into a nice large pile to make a nest....

Raccoon village...........

Raccoons evicted........

Keep us updated with pics of the project......you've seen our pics----LOL!!!

You don't need a CSI lab to do a hair analysis on this piece of evidence....or dental records to i.d. those teeth marks either.

Now, there is a HARD lesson here!! I did this one year and a couple died and started rotting under the rearmost center console - getting the smell out was worse than getting the mice out!!

As previously mentioned, I have been using Bounce AND Moth ***** (paper cups cut down to about an inch filled with the Moth ***** in a few places) - not had the problem since.

Once you already have the mice issue in your car they will carry it to the nest. That is a problem. In a perfect world you get them before they take up residence.
