Simple question - looking for red interior vinyl/paint code for SEM. I would like to buy it locally rather than order it. If there is a duplicolor code or other that would be helpful. I have a basic red/red l 48 vette and would like the interior color to look original.

Yes but they want to know the SEM paint number - which gets me back to where i am starting. I redid my 70 goat with a red interior with SEM firethorne red which was fantastic. I had an original piece of molding to work with and was able to match it up. With the vette the previous owner painted the interior with what is obviously the wrong color so i cant match up. I do not want to order other paint if i can figure out SEM color and i want to keep it original as possible.

Maybe. Flip over pieces dyed by the PO. You can often find original color in sports the dye misses.

 

Some of the major vendors list interior paint by the specific color for each year or years, depending on how long the color was used. For example, Corvette Central lists a red for 77-81.

Not sure if it's SEM, Duplicolor or something else, but I doubt they'd keep selling it if it doesn't do the job. Maybe others have had experience with a specific vendor's paint, or call the vendor and find out where they source their paint.
