Hi forum members
As a first time vette owner,"79" I've been repairing vacuum leaks as everyone has, I did get an AIM for my year from Wilcox. It and Wilcox videos have been a great help, one leak above the glove box had to drilled out and glued back in the fitting, (Thank you Wilcox for the vid.)
This leads me to the defroster question while everything was apart, as you can see there's a gap between the two pcs. of duct assemblies, my AIM shows (pg. 165) some connection between the lower and upper one, but I can't find any other info on this. Any help on this would be be appreciated

missing connector between upper and lower assembly
At least on the 68-77 style dashes I don't think there's a connection piece. Air chooses the easiest route anyhow. Alu or duct tape seem popular if you want to close it anyway
I ran into the same thing today when reassembling the ductwork. Stuff like this puts a freeze on progress until you can figure it out. I was thinking I must have assembled something wrong with the main duct from the heater core. But everything looks correct with that portion, so it's a head scratcher. As mentioned, I don't believe there's a spacer or adapter to close that gap. Mine is just barely above the lower housing, so I guess I'll be using some foil tape to seal it off. I don't have the dash assembled yet, except for the new pad and support, so I'm not sure how far the dash pad will be 'adjusted' once the rest of it is installed.
