You would not believe how many MAJOR parts we made for the C-4's in our plant. I worked there, MTD AUTOMOTIVE-CLEVELAND PLANT, for 34 years in maintenance, till they closed in 2007. I started in 1974 and it was always a thrill to walk past workers making Vette parts, and knowing that they were going into each and every one made. Lou.

He never said anything about expecting to trade his C4 for a C3 even up. He may well be expecting to trade his C4 plus cash for a C3.

The 1984's Crossfire cars can be had for cheap, but consider this, if you can find one, the Z51 option got you a track ready car, with razor sharp handling. The joke on the C4 forum about the Z51 option on the 84's was that you could run over a dime and be able to tell if it was heads or tails!

Get a stick shift '84 with the Z51, put something in the engine compartment with some huevo's and you could have a lot of fun on the race track for cheap!

I have owned two C4s. I had an 86 Vette, which was a perfect first Vette. Yes it had its issues, but it was a good learning opportunity. My second was a 1990 ZR-1. You talk about one bada$$ car. I miss it so much (divorce). Having said that, I get way more thumbs up in my C3 than I did my C4. Most people I came across didn't know it was a ZR-1 until they saw my back bumper (usually as I was driving away, lol). With today's technology, you can get quite a bit of power out of a cheap 84 Vette. It is still the same Gen 1 SBC, so new heads, cam and a Renegade intake can really wake it up. $5K for 77k miles isn't a bad price either.

It'd be a cool buy if you had a '57 body to drop on it.
My girlfriend's old neighbor told me a while back about a '57 he'd been trying to buy for many years. I think I pissed him off somehow, which is no surprise...
Wish I knew where that '57 was. I bet I could get it outta them...
