New Shoes
New Shoes:
I know the TTII's are overdone, but they are the best option for my taste. My goal is more traction for occasional track days.
Fronts:
18 x 8 4" backspace, Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 245-45R18
Rear:
18 x 9.5 5.25" backspace, Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 275-40R18
Both tires are 26.7" diameter
I've read most everything about what other people are using, and I measured and re-measured, and I have no idea how people are putting 5.5" backspace in the rear without a spacer. With this set-up I can put the very tip of my finger between the frame (at the TA pocket) and the tire, maybe 3/8" clearance. 5.5" BS would have given me about 1/8". As it turns out, this set up has less potential fender interference than the previous set-up (8" rim, 4" BS, and 245-60R15) so I am satisfied I have maxed out the rear width with reasonable clearances.
I also learned that the offset TA's are a bit of a farce if you are looking for more tire clearance. unless you went with a smaller diameter tire to take the TA pocket out of the equation. The frame at the TA pocket is the limiting factor once the parking brake cable is moved. The offset TAs are stronger (so they say); so that may be the only advantage. I didn't have spring or sway bar issues because I have coilovers and a shortened sway bar from Van Steel.
